rather than move my entire office i am putting out a call to borrow office furniture and props in vancouver

any other suitable pieces for a small investigative office

Not quite sure of the era of these signs seventies maybe but they are found in two locations downtown One at the very soon to open site of the actual physical downtown storefront office space of the office of surrealist investigations and the other a few blocks away at one of the last remaining independent corner stores in town
I have a fairly clear meaning not that clear at all recollection of two more of these 7up signs attached to corner stores of my childhood alas in the words of Paula Cole where have all the corner stores gone I believe one was downtown at something like seventh and Battle and the other in the middle of a residential neighbourhood south of Columbia eighth and Pine maybe
The only reason I remember these is that one of them had a postal outlet where I or my folks had to go pick up a package Anyone have similar memories or know of similar signage about town or about your town
been busy and have not posted in a while mostly due to getting my new semi permanent physical office space prepped Work in progress so far but opening very soon

the physical office is closed for now, but the case continues…
I received a delivery notice when I came to the office this morning, so as soon as I got the chance I went and picked it up. No return address, no name, but the postmark does reveal some clues. This was unexpected, so I was eager to see what I received. After bringing it back to the office I took a closer look.
I believe these are post office markings
Nicaraguan cigars, a personal favourite. Is this from someone close to me?
The seals are broken, so no not likely cigars. Parcel bomb perhaps? Am I parcel bombable? I’ve only had a physical address for a couple of weeks.
It appears to be a stamp or seal. Greenwood, BC. Apparently, the smallest city in Canada. 
I suspect this is the main drive of this parcel. An exquisite corpse writing project. I’ve talked to a few people about the corpse since starting the office a few years ago. Particularly it’s beginnings as a written project and poetic in nature. Recent conversations with a couple of writers lead me to more early surrealist writings, which in turn lead to Maldorer by Comte de Lautreamont. Not necessarily a Surrealist writing, but an early French poetic writing influential among the Dadaists and Surrealists. It is Comte de Lautreamont’s only published writing as he died young. I recommend giving it a read even if not in it’s entirety, it is full of incredible imagery. I have a hunch on who sent this package my way, so I’m off to interrogate suspects.
A couple of mysterious guests dropped in to draw last night
So, we had an opening, complete with bank vault speakeasy (a sweltering one at that), band, and surrealist activity throughout the night. Thanks to press photographer Devon Lindsay for the photos. Drawing games and investigations ruled the early part of the evening with the odd disruption and illicit throwing of dice. 
A few plants within our crowd of guests made the evening. 
Then, the fuzz showed up
raided the bar, got a little rough with the patrons, but with some encouragement allowed the evening to continue. Though they couldn’t keep their guns holstered and even got a little smarmy with the media
Chess and a select stash of scotch helped the night along while shady deals and crooked cops kept things interesting. 
Great evening and thanks to everyone who helped pull this off and came out. Drop in, the office is open for viewing and snooping till July 11. Other operatives will be in the office Tuesday through Saturday for the remainder of June. I’ll be back in late June and July and the odd Saturday until then. See previous post for details on hours.
