office of surrealist investigations
The Office of Surrealist Investigations began out of the surrealist drawing game of exquisite corpse and explorations between the surrealists and the Black Dahlia murder. Drawing queues from Art Spiegelman's narrative corpse, the drawing games have opened up this process further and into other media through collaborations with artists and non-artists resulting in zines and gallery exhibitions. This one made me laugh. Check out my stuff, it’s similar. I’ve made drawings like this one, but I don’t think I have any on my site right now.
Do you know Shel Silverstien?

Not personally, but yes. I have a couple of his books that include drawings he did while working for Playboy and travelling the world.

I did mean know of Shel. Your drawing reminded me of his stuff. I didn’t know the bit about working for Playboy. My wife and I read Where The Sidewalk Ends when were kids and recently purchased it for our kids to read.

Yes, I had his kids books as a kid too. Didn’t mean to sound cheeky. He did work for Playboy, but didn’t want to do sexy cartoons. Apparently, Hefner said he would keep him on payroll if he sent cartoons of his travels from abroad. One of the collections is called Around the World. There is also Different Dances, which is definitely more adult in themes and full of weirdness.

I only knew about the children’s books. Just learned that he wrote hit songs, too, like A Boy Named Sue. Cool. Thanks.
